Affiliate Programs:
Clickthroughs and Conversions

If your affiliate program is your only online business, your website should be designed to pre-sell those affiliate products.

In doing this, you can increase both your clickthrough rate and your conversion rate.

The clickthrough rate is determined by the percentage of your website visitors who click your affiliate link.

The conversion rate applies to those clickthroughs that result in a purchase or other action required for a commission to be paid.

Suppose you have 2000 visitors per day. If 100 of those visitors click on your affiliate link, your clickthrough rate is 5 percent.

If your conversion rate is 6 percent, that means that six (6 percent of 100 clickthroughs) of those you referred as an affiliate made a purchase.

If your commission on each of those six purchases is $15, for example, that's $90 per day in revenue from your affiliate program.

All other things being equal, an increase in website traffic, clickthrough rate, or conversion rate will increase your affiliate program revenue.

With relevant and targeted content designed to pre-sell, you can increase your traffic, clickthroughs, and conversions.
